PROVIDING HOMES AND HOPE TO THE WOMEN OF BURUNDI - ONE STEP AT A TIME
AS INDIVIDUALS, WE CAN COME TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES FOR THE WOMEN AND ORPHANS OF BURUNDI.
Burundi is a country in Africa where thousands of women have been widowed during more than a decade of civil strife. Their children are fatherless, and their families are without provisions. Burundian widows are not just old women; an average widow is in her 40s and is caring for at least four children. In this culture, widows are outcasts with no income, no government aid, no
Like you, I’m a busy person. I’m a father of two who runs a law practice in Wenatchee, Washington while serving as an adjunct professor at both Wenatchee Valley College and Central Washington University. I’m a long-distance runner, active in my church, and have been told I’m a dedicated husband and friend.
But my challenges are minor in comparison to those of others.
I have made a personal decision to answer the question of what I can do to serve others by dedicating an area of my life, running, to the widows and orphans of Burundi.
I have chosen to work with Sister Connection, a non-profit Christian organization, to help the women and orphans of Burundi by setting running goals designed to help meet the needs of this unique group. I have committed to run 338 race miles for the women and orphans of Burundi by September of 2011, and I’m asking for your help.
What can one person do? You can join me in this effort to help the women and orphans of Burundi. I’m asking you to make a difference by contributing either “Bucks for Burundi” through a one-time $1.00 donation, or by agreeing to join me in “Burundi By The Mile,” which supports this effort by making a financial contribution per mile. DONATE NOW!
